PHOTOGRAPHY

Photography is a quick way to capture moments and memories in our life, but the art of photography seems to be lost in the midst of growing pace of our lifestyle. Teaching photography to the current generation can be challenging but when discoveries are made, we can see how students flourish and express their creative visions through their works. These images were also manipulated using digital software.

DIGITAL MEDIUM

The world is changing and evolving at a rapid pace due to technology and the quick spread of information. Our syllabus must be evolved in order to keep up, not just for our own learning, but also to equip students with skills that are actually useful for their future. Students were told to design a folktale poster using Adobe Photoshop, while using themselves as the main subject. This was actually part of an ICT project that I conducted, but the learning skills involved crosses into Art subjects as well.

In conjunction with Chinese New Year, I tasked the students with producing red packet designs. These were done using Adobe Illustrator and later sold during school events. It was great that they made use of their artistic skills to start a business!

Students also made use of their Adobe Illustrator knowledge to design laser cut merchandises like keychains, badges, bookmarks and earrings. One of their other projects was also to create an automata toy that moves (ferris wheel).
